John N. Alafoyiannis Jr. is a Greek American professional, father of two, and lifelong participant in the Greek American community. Born and raised in Flushing, New York, and shaped by formative years spent in Athens, Greece, John has always maintained a deep connection to his heritage. He is an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Norwalk, Connecticut, as well as St. Nicholas in Flushing and St. Demetrios in Astoria, Queens. His spiritual journey has included visiting Mount Athos, an experience that strengthened his faith and grounded his personal values.John is a graduate of St. John’s University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Management and MBA in Finance with honors. During his time there, he was an engaged member of the Hellenic Society and the Hellenic American Bankers Association (HABA). His professional career spans more than two decades across major Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, and Investment Managers, specializing in fund analytics, valuation, performance reporting, and global investment operations. He has also served as an International Business Development Manager, building strategic business partnerships and advancing Greek business interests abroad.
John is also active in community and philanthropic circles. He has been a long time attendee and supporter of the well-known Blue Dream event held at St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church in the Hamptons—an annual gathering that celebrates Greek heritage and advances charitable causes.
A passionate lifelong athlete and avid sports enthusiast, John is now channeling his experience in finance and his love for sports into launching a private equity initiative focused on developing, acquiring, and elevating sports franchises—beginning in Greece and eventually expanding globally. He sees this project not only as a compelling investment opportunity but as a means to create meaningful and lasting value for communities, business partners and the wider Hellenic diaspora.
